Caldy Open Gardens 2025 – Turning Community Spirit Into Real Change

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who opened their gardens, volunteered, or visited during Caldy Open Gardens 2025. Due to the incredible generosity of our community, the event raised over £40,000, enabling our chosen charity, now known as Age UK Wirral, Liverpool & Sefton, with the support of Neil Gregory at Mitchell Group, to purchase two wheelchair accessible vehicles, with a third vehicle in the pipeline.

These vehicles will be used for the charity’s Home from Hospital service, which helps vulnerable people return home safely after a hospital stay, ensures they can attend follow-up medical appointments, and supports them through recovery. This service not only transforms individual lives but also reduces hospital readmissions and frees up beds sooner, benefitting the whole community.

Rich Crosbie, Lead for Out of Hospital Services, shared his thanks:
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in Caldy Open Gardens 2025 for enabling us to replace our worn out vehicles with a new fleet. This guarantees we can run our Home from Hospital service efficiently and reliably for years to come. From each and every person who will benefit from our new vehicles - thank you!”

With the remaining funds, the charity will purchase a third vehicle - a general purpose van to be used for transporting luggage, furniture, medical equipment etc, all essential to their day-to-day support work.

A huge thank you to the fantastic Caldy Open Gardens Planning Team - Rachel, Matt, Philippa, Fiona, and Lynne and to all the staff at Age UK Wirral, Liverpool & Sefton; and of course, to the wonderful dedicated gardeners.

Here's to another brilliant year of community spirit - and to many more beautiful gardens still to come.
