Caldy Open Gardens 2025 – Turning Community Spirit Into Real Change
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who opened their gardens, volunteered, or visited during Caldy Open Gardens 2025. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and with the support of Neil Gregory at Mitchell Group – the event raised over £40,000, enabling our chosen charity, now Age UK Wirral, Liverpool & Sefton, to purchase two brand new wheelchair accessible vehicles, with a third vehicle on the way.
These vehicles will be used for the charity’s Home from Hospital service, which helps vulnerable people return safely home after a hospital stay, ensures they can attend follow up medical appointments, and supports them through recovery. This service not only transforms individual lives but also reduces hospital readmissions and frees up beds sooner a benefit felt across the whole community.
Rich Crosbie, Lead for Out of Hospital Services, shared his thanks:
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in Caldy Open Gardens 2025 for enabling us to replace our worn out vehicles with a new fleet. This guarantees we can run our Home from Hospital service efficiently and reliably for years to come. From each and every person who will benefit from our new vehicles — thank you!”
With remaining funds, the charity will soon purchase a third vehicle – a general purpose van used for transporting luggage, furniture, medical equipment and more, all essential to their day-to-day support work.
A huge thank-you to the fantastic Caldy Open Gardens Planning Team – Rachel, Matt, Philippa, Fiona, and Lynne and all the staff at Age UK Wirral, Liverpool & Sefton. And of course, the wonderful dedicated gardeners.
Here's to another brilliant year of community spirit – and to many more beautiful gardens still to come.
